How to Get the Best Measurements (So It Fits Right)
Getting accurate measurements is non-negotiable. If the coat doesn’t fit well, insulation and mobility suffer. Here’s how to measure properly:
Measurement | What to Measure | How to Do It Correctly |
---|---|---|
Chest | Widest part around your chest (usually just under armpits) | Use a tape measure around your chest, keep it level front to back. Don’t over-tighten: you want enough room for a layer or two underneath. |
Length | From the base of the collar (where it meets your neck) down to where you want the coat to fall (hip / mid-thigh / knees etc) | Stand straight, maybe have someone help. If you want more coverage (for warmth), aim longer; if mobility is more important, a shorter length helps. |
Sleeve | From shoulder seam to wrist (or where you want the sleeve to end) | If measuring your own arm: bend it slightly so the tape follows the natural curve. You want full reach when you move your arm forward or bend it. |
